DOB: 04/19/2004 15 HH 6 Panel N/Herda/MYHM EJSCA Negative "Doc" came to Lazy X Heart Ranch fall of 2022. He is an OWN son of Smart Little Lena (LTE $700+k). Doc's dam, Whisper ofa Playgirl earned over 150k in the NCHA with progeny earner over 150,000 so far. Doc sold in the NCHA yearling sale for $40,000 in 2005. He was bred by David Dewhurst of Falcon Seaboard Ranches. Dewhurst is the former Lieutenant Governor of Texas. Doc proudly wears the D Ring Snaffle brand that is only on Dewhurst's horses. We do not know why he was not shown at this home. He was then used as a ranch horse and covered mares down south. He was then sold to North Dakota once his previous owner retired. Doc's full sister Smart Asa Whip earned 27,772.65 in the NCHA before being retired as a broodmare. She has offspring currently earning money in cutting and barrels. Doc's first son is now showing in the NRCHA. He won $72.50 in his first show! We are excited to see how he does over the next several years. Doc is easy to work with and so gentle that a 4 year old little girl has ridden him. We look forward to his LXH offspring starting spring 2024. We laid Doc to rest in September 2023 as his health was declining quickly due to cancer and we did not want to see him suffer. |

Smart Little Lena

An industry icon who needs no introduction, Smart Little Lena was the first horse to capture the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Triple Crown and remains a genetic staple to this day across the Western performance industry.
He retired with more than $700,000 earned in eight shows and maneuvered his way into the hearts of those close to him with his small stature and giant heart. Smart Little Lena’s progeny have traversed disciples to show their sires’ versatility. Sons Smart Chic Olena and Very Smart Remedy are forces in the cow horse industry — siring more than $3 million and $2 million in that discipline respectively. Smart Chic Olena also is a National Reining Horse Association Seven Million Dollar Sire whose daughters also turned out to be great reining producers, with his daughters foaling the winners of more than $3 million in the sport of reining alone. His influence in the cutting pen is immense. Grandson High Brow Cat (High Brow Hickory x Smart Little Kitty x Smart Little Lena) is the all-time leading cutting sire and, when all disciplines are examined, is the all-time leading sire in EquiStat with more than $86 million in progeny earnings. Smart Little Lena’s son, Red White And Boon (out of Royal Blue Boon x Boon Bar) has won more money than any other horse in the EquiStat database, with more than $922,000 on his record. As a sire, Smart Little Lena was outstanding, with money-earning foals in every performance discipline. In AQHA competition, his offspring earned 9,744.5 points and 22 world championships, along with $216,387. In the National Reining Horse Association competition, his foals earned $686,470. In the National Reined Cow Horse Association, they earned $973,136.95 But Smart Little Lena’s foals were primarily destined for the cutting pen and NCHA, where they earned $34.9 million. As a maternal grandsire, his grandget earned 14,979.5 points in AQHA competition and $567,224. In NRHA competition, they earned $1.8 million; in NRCHA competition, they earned $2.56 million; and in NCHA, they earned $50 million. At the 2014 NCHA Futurity, 23 of the 25 open finalists – including the winner – carried the fighting blood of Smart Little Lena with them into the pen for their own duels in the dirt. The tiny stallion’s fighting legacy lives on. Smart Little Lena was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 2015. Little Lena was euthanized in 2010 at 31 years old after suffering a stroke. But thanks to modern technology as well as sons and daughters, Little Lena’s impact is continuing to be felt. He is still standing at stud via ICSI with his 2021 fee advertised at $2,000. |

Whisper OfA Playgirl is sired by the great Freckles Playboy and out of Julie Christie by Peppy San Badger.
Whisper earned $150,070.27 in the NCHA during her show career. She placed 3rd in the NCHA Pro Classic in 1995. She also earned points through AQHA and qualified for the JR Cutting World Show in 1994. Of her 19 foals, 9 are money earners. So far, her offspring have won over 155,000 in the NCHA alone. Her offspring have also earned over 65 performance points and are still showing as of 2022.
