Owning horses has its good days and its bad days. This page is dedicated to our wonderful horses that we have lost. They are gone but forever in our hearts. We bury all of our lost animals together on our ranch out in the pasture so that their spirits may forever roam free together at Lazy X Heart Ranch.

Her maternal grandsire, Roan Beau won over $10k on the race track in 1979 and goes back to Deep Sun. Ely is a kind mare that passes on great attitude and smarts onto her foals. She is a great mother and one of the sweetest mares on the ranch. She is halter broke. Ely does have a slight limp due to a bad front knee. This has never negatively impacted her other than she's a little slower than some mares. She has produced several foals that have placed in the top 10 at the Dakota 50/50 and went on to be all-around ranch horses. Lena's sire, Little Rey Lena was the winner of the All American Quarter Horse Congress Open Junior Reining event in 2002 and 2003. In 2007 he received the AQHA superior reining award for earning over 50 points in one event. Lena's last foal was in 2017 and was laid to rest in 2023 due to old age. |

This great mare produced Driftwood’s greatest performers including Poker Chip Peake who is considered to be the greatest calf roping horse of all time. Shadow joined us January 2023. In her past life, I have found photos suggesting that she was broke to ride as a young mare before becoming a soggy broodmare later in life.
